Meeting of Baku Officials with the Representative of the Bahá’í Community

The Azerbaijan News Channel, affiliated with the Azerbaijani government, reported on June 24 , 2024 about a meeting between Bani Dugal, the representative of the Bahá’í International Community at the United Nations, and Ramin Mammadov, The head of the government committee for cooperation with the country’s religious organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the report, this meeting took place at the Azerbaijani Mission to the United Nations, with delegations accompanying both Ramin Mammadov and Bani Dugal.

 The Bahá’í International Community’s office at the United Nations also published the aforementioned news on June 24, 2024 thanking Ramin Mammadov for hosting the Bahá’í delegation and expressing gratitude for what they described as his spirit of inclusiveness and exemplary multiculturalism. They also announced their eagerness to collaborate in the future to promote the welfare of Azerbaijan and the world.

Unfortunately, in recent years, the Azerbaijani government, disregarding the majority Muslim and Shia population of the country, has facilitated the penetration and expansion of the Bahá’í Faith in Azerbaijan. This sect has been declared deviant and outside of Islam by the fatwa of the Islamic Cooperation Council, which includes 57 Muslim countries.
